Based on true events from the exploits of cocaine kingpin and Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar, Narcos took the world by storm back in 2015 on Netflix.
The series shows you both perspectives in the drug war in South America, following both the DEA led by agents Steve Murphy and Javier Pena along with the opposition who they were chasing.
They had the dangerously unenviable challenge of capturing Escobar who’d become one of the richest people in the world after manufacturing and exporting his cocaine around the world.
His success saw him enter the Forbes rich list as one of the wealthiest men in the world and with him paid up with the right people, he was virtually untouchable. And the time he was arrested he was put in his own prison full of his friends, getting whatever he wants - ridiculous right?
The true story fits the narrative of a gripping Netflix series perfectly which makes it all more incredible that these events actually unfolded and happened as recently as the 80’s.
Murphy, Pena & the DEA’s pursuit of Escobar makes pretty incredible viewing and we highly recommend getting stuck into this Netflix masterpiece – it’s great.
The success of the seasons featuring Pablo led to a new show titled Narcos: Mexico and even though it doesn’t feature the Colombian drug lord it's a pretty special show.
