At last... (Looking for this superb show since 1996!)

I was looking for this series since 1996. At one point, I had an illegal copy of the series. All my friends and I have been contacting Hat Trick for releasing the series so we can buy and original and legitimate copy of the series. Alas, at last they came into their senses. I’ve just ordered my copy of the series. Great news! Right-Ho, M.

A lost gem recaptured

The 123 AD sitcom placed in Britain is a tour de force by Rory McGrath and Jimmy Mulville. It combines witty dialogue and brilliant one liners with enough of classical references to keep anyone with a mediocum of historical interest happy. The crux of the series is seeing Britain the subject of imperial rule. Standing many of our preconceptions on the head with the ancient Britons speaking modern English thereby connecting to us but the Romans, when in Rome, speaking Latin defining them as foreigners but at them same the ones representing civilization and culture.

illigitmus non tatum carborundum

A definite gem from the late eighties, the spoken latin and then the translation into english on subtitles is brilliant .... testicles = balderdash. Epic, great acting and even better comedy moments
