We Are The Champions

Formed in London in 1970, Queen is a British rock band that originally comprised electric frontman Freddie Mercury, Brian May on guitar and vocals, Roger Taylor on drums, and John Deacon on bass guitar.

Embracing a progressive rock style, the band is best known for arena-rock and radio-favourite pop-rock tracks such as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘Another One Bites The Dust’, ‘Don't Stop Me Now’, ‘We Are The Champions’, ‘We Will Rock You’, and ‘Somebody To Love’ — amongst many other critically acclaimed hits.

Their global record sales range from 170 million to 300 million, which has established them as one of the best-selling musical artists of all time. By the early 1980s, Queen’s anthemic songs had rocketed them all the way to the top.

In 1985, the band played one of their most memorable performances during the Live Aid show at Wembley Stadium in London. Freddie Mercury wore his iconic white tank top and jeans while they performed a twenty-minute-long set that featured their most beloved songs.

Another of the band’s most significant achievements came about during their collaboration with music legend David Bowie on the song ‘Under Pressure’. Famously, the iconic tune resulted from a jamming session between the Queen band members and Ziggy Stardust himself.

It comes as no surprise that Queen received the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution To British Music in 1990 and were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2001. Further to this, the band’s legacy was cemented even further with the release of the Oscar-winning film Bohemian Rhapsody (2019).
