When a reporter and cameraman are assigned to cover the daily routine of a nuclear power plant, they witness and record an accident which could have wiped out the whole of Southern California, but their bosses refuse to broadcast the footage. Starring Jane Fonda (The Chase, Klute) Jack Lemmon (Some Like It Hot, Missing) and Michael Douglas (Basic Instinct, The Game), this daring and controversial thriller was nominated for four Academy Awards®, and proved to be horrifyingly prescient when the real-life Three Mile Island accident happened at a nuclear generator in Pennsylvania just 12 days after it was released in US cinemas.

A superb film that looks great on Blu-ray
One of the best conspiracy thrillers in the decade that had plenty of high-quality films in that very genre but this manages to set itself apart from those films by mixing it up a bit by having an element of the disaster genre while also giving a worthwhile insight into the world of television. It also features three great lead performances, has a solid supporting cast, has good production, is well paced, is well shot, makes the wise decision to not use a score, has its tense moments and brings up worthy themes such as the role of the media in reporting incidents and the greed of those who run large companies.
